This type of yarn is often called chiengora, a traditional fiber made from dog fur, but we can spin fur from a variety of pets including dogs, cats, and rabbits. Each fiber behaves a little differently, making every batch of yarn truly unique.

Whether you’re looking to create something special or simply preserve a part of your beloved companion, this service offers a meaningful way to keep them close.

Note: This service is for brushed fur from double-coated dog breeds or long-haired cats. If your pet has short hair or shaved fur, please see our Yarn Spinning Service for Shaved Fur for options.

Pricing is per 25 grams of fur, purchase the number of quantities needed to cover the total weight of your pet’s fur you want spun.

Turnaround Time

Each keepsake is carefully handcrafted through a multi-step process, including preparing and spinning the fiber by hand. Because of the time and care involved — and the limited number of commissions I take on — timelines can vary.

Current turnaround is approximately 6–12 months from when I receive your fur.

Orders are completed in the order they are received, and your place in the queue is secured once your materials arrive. I’ll provide updates along the way so you know your piece is in progress.

How to Order & Pricing:

  • Pricing is per 25 grams of fur. This is also the minimum charge per order.

  • To determine how many quantities to purchase, weigh your fur before sending it in.

  • As a guide, 25 grams is roughly a sandwich-sized Ziploc bag filled with fur.

  • Purchase the number of quantities needed to cover the total weight of your pet’s fur you want spun.

  • It is recommended to weigh your fur for accuracy if possible, especially for larger amounts.

Price includes:

  • Receiving, weighing, and evaluating the fur for spinning

  • Washing the fur with specialized techniques to avoid felting

  • Processing and carding the fur to prepare it for spinning

  • Hand-spinning the prepared fur to your desired thickness/weight

  • Plying two strands together to make a durable 2-ply yarn

  • Washing and finishing the yarn

  • Winding the yarn into a center-pull ball for ease of use

  • Labeling with yarn weight and yardage

  • After placing your order, you will receive detailed shipping instructions.

Please note: There can be approximately 5–10% fur loss in the spinning process, depending on the condition, cleanliness, and quality of the fur.
