Preparing the Fiber

Depending on the type and condition of the fur, it may be carded. Carding gently disentangles, cleans, and blends the fibers while aligning them in preparation for spinning. I may use hand carders or a drum carder depending on the fiber.

The prepared fiber is spun by hand on a spinning wheel. Two strands are then spun together to create a strong, balanced 2-ply yarn.

The finished yarn is carefully washed and rinsed, then hung to dry. This finishing process removes the remaining pet odor, so your yarn won't develop that familiar pet smell again if it gets wet.
